The Australian Salesian Missions Overseas Aid Fund (ASMOAF) in conjunction with the Australian Social Communications team, have released a new video that celebrates the progress of a significant milestone in its Pacific Project – Fiji Youth and Educational Centre. The video updates donors on the impact of their contributions whilst highlighting the potential of the centre and the need for further support.

Fiji - New Beginnings

The Islands of Fiji are seen by many as a beautiful holiday destination surrounded by pristine beaches, coral reefs, a layback atmosphere and welcoming locals. However, Fiji is also a nation experiencing many challenges. It has a youthful population with 44 per cent under the age of 25 of which a significant proportion of the young adults are unemployed and homeless.

On 7 February 2016 the Fiji Islands were pounded by a tropical cyclone Winston with wind gusts of 325 km per hour and waves up to 12 meters. Entire villages and schools were destroyed and many families lost all their possessions.
